DUBLIN, Ireland, Sept. 10 -- Ulster Bank issued the following news release:
Ulster Bank today announces the appointment of Dermot Browne to the Board of Directors of Ulster Bank Ireland DAC. Mr. Browne has extensive experience in financial services with a focus on the insurance industry. He has held senior executive roles in Ireland including CEO of Aviva Ireland and in Switzerland with Zurich Group where he held senior global strategy roles.
Ulster Bank Chairman, Des O'Shea said:
"Dermot's appointment will further strengthen the UBIDAC Board. Dermot brings a breadth of skills and expertise and has extensive financial services experience both as a senior executive and a non-executive director. Dermot will also become Chair of Ulster Bank's Audit Committee and he will begin his appointment immediately."
Bio: Between 2007 and 2011, Mr. Browne held a number of senior executive roles in Aviva Ireland, including the position of CEO. Prior to this, he was a senior executive with Eagle Star Life Assurance Company of Ireland (now Zurich Life) over a sixteen year period, and between 2012 and 2016 he re-joined Zurich Group in a global strategy role based in Switzerland.
Mr. Browne holds a number of other Independent Non Executive Director positions, including FBD plc and Athora Ireland plc. A native of Athlone, Mr. Browne is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Galway.
