Through a century

The Canton Repository's staff engaged in a newspaper employee strike from Feb. 19, 1972, through July 22, 1972. During that time, the Rep wasn't published. Citations that normally are from 50 years ago will be taken from newspapers from 1977, which is 45 years ago, and will continue through July 26.

100 YEARS AGO – Dr. and Mrs. A.C. Brant left Canton this evening for Mackinac Island, where they would spend several weeks.

45 YEARS AGO – Clayton DiStefano of Ramsburg Insurance Agency informed the board of Molly Stark Hospital it had been operating without malpractice insurance.

25 YEARS AGO – U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula, R-Navarre, said implementation of new Federal EPA air-emission standards would block almost any local major industrial expansion in Stark County.
