Inflation in the United States is the highest since 1981. As of March it stood at 8.5 percent, and seems to show no signs of reaching a turning point. The upward trajectory of inflation has been caused by a series of consecutive shocks, including expansionary fiscal and monetary policies, as well as a series of transitory shocks.
