Texas retired teachers discus insurance cost of living increase

Texas Retired Teachers Association District 3 President Robin Metting was the guest speaker at the Lavaca County Retired School Personnel meeting on Sept. 13.
She recommended members log onto the TRTA website (trta.org) to find updated information about health issues and to learn ways that the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation has helped active and retired educators by providing financial assistance through grants and scholarships.
She urged members to contact their legislators concerning the cost of living increase for retirees vote. District 3 is organizing a bus trip to the Capitol on Oct. 15, for the purpose of visiting with legislators.
Legislative Committee Chair Marcie Appelt reviewed a handout for all members about TRTA Legislative Priorities for the 88th Legislative Session including helpful tips and contact information for each of our legislators.
The next meeting is Oct. 11. Egan Barthels, Emergency Management Coordinator for Lavaca County, will be the guest speaker.
