Suspect in bicyclists’ deaths turns himself in

Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville, FL)

A 37-year-old Jacksonville man wanted on a warrant in Saturday's hit-and-run that killed two bicyclists on Race Track Road is behind bars after turning himself in, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Henry Haigler III was booked into the St. Johns County jail just before 11 a.m. Wednesday with no bail set until he has his first court appearance, according to the Sheriff's Office.

St. Johns investigators had secured an arrest warrant late Monday for him. The Sheriff's Office said a 2016 black Hyundai Azera sedan with factory-equipped fog lights was involved in the crash about 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bartram Springs community. After the two bicyclists were hit, the sedan was last seen heading west on Race Track Road. The Sheriff's Office did not identify the victims.

The Sheriff's Office said it gathered enough evidence to lead them to the suspected vehicle and its potential driver. But the man would not submit to an interview or an investigation of his car. Deputies then served a search warrant at the house and found the Hyundai with damage.

Police arrest St. Johns man

at Trump rally in Orlando

A St. Augustine man is in the Orange County jail after he reportedly assaulted a reporter from the Orlando Sentinel during Tuesday's President Donald Trump rally in Orlando, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

Video shows Daniel Patrick Kestner, 51, saying expletives before he realizes he is being filmed by reporter Michael Williams via his cellphone. Kestner, wearing a "Make America Great Again" ballcap, was upset because he was being kicked out of the Amway Center where the rally was held, Williams said.

Kestner can be heard saying "Are you taping? I want it. Stop." He then appears to strike Williams' phone, prompting security to get involved.

As security tells Kestner to leave, he says, "This [expletive] is taping me!"

Another video shot by Williams shows Kestner being handcuffed by Orlando police on a misdemeanor battery charge. Citing an arrest report, Williams said the smell of alcohol was emitting from Kestner.

The rally at the Amway Center served as the official kickoff of Trump's re-election campaign.
