St. Louis regional leaders react to Express Scripts sale
St. Louis Post-Dispatch (MO)
March 08--Following the announcement St. Louis region's largest public company, Express Scripts, is being acquired by Connecticut-based health insurer Cigna, regional leaders weighed in on the news:
"When we add another Fortune 100 company to our list of companies operating in St. Louis, that's a good thing" -- St. Louis Economic Development Partnership CEO Sheila Sweeney
"We welcome Cigna Corporation to the booming economy of St. Louis County, which has seen 30,000 jobs retained and created and $5 billion in capital improvements, expansions and new construction since 2015. We look forward to a smooth transition in Cigna's acquisition of Express Scripts. And we salute Express Scripts, founded here as a startup in 1986, and foresee its continued vibrant presence in our community." -- St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger
"As Cigna CEO David Cordani said, they had a lot of choices. Ultimately their decision is a testament to the quality of the St. Louis workforce and Express Scripts' tremendous success. We look forward to engaging with Cigna and Express Scripts leadership to find out more about what this means in terms of jobs and promised community investment in the St. Louis region." -- St. Louis Regional Chamber Acting President and CEO Tom Chulick
