Spooky fun arrives, but there’s plenty more to do

Sept. 23--Halloween is more than a month away, but the season of scaring is practically upon us. Spooky Movie Weekend is next Saturday at the Old Idaho Penitentiary, the same day that The Haunted World kicks off in Nampa. The entire month is chock full of ghoulish events, culminating in a Zombie Prom, Creepy Critters Encounter and annual performance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (practices start Oct. 1). If Halloween doesn't light your fire, there's the Fall Harvest Festival at the Idaho Botanical Garden, the Trailing of the Sheep Festival in the Wood River Valley and Gloria Steinem's visit to Boise as part of The Cabin's Readings and Conversations series.
