Sen. Wyden Welcomes Shawn Bishop to Lead Finance Health Team

WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 -- Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following news release on Feb. 17, 2021:
Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today welcomed Shawn Bishop to be Chief Health Advisor on the Senate Finance Committee Majority staff.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Shawn back to the committee at this critical moment," Wyden said. "Shawn was instrumental in the development of the Finance Committee's prescription drug pricing legislation last Congress, and I know she will bring the same know-how and energy as she leads the committee's health team. I look forward to drawing on her depth of health care knowledge and industrious spirit as the committee takes on multiple major health and economic challenges facing families across the country."
Bishop returns to the Finance Committee after joining in 2019 to help develop and pass the Prescription Drug Pricing Reduction Act of 2019, also known as Grassley-Wyden. She rejoins the committee with over 25 years of experience shaping federal health care policy, including as a professional staff member covering Medicare, private insurance and prescription drug issues under Senator Max Baucus. She also brings experience from the Congressional Budget Office, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the private sector, including as vice president for the Controlling Health Care Costs and Advancing Medicare programs at the Commonwealth Fund.
