Safety National Awards Safety First Grants for Creative Risk Control Solutions

Safety National announced the winners of the Company’s annual Safety First Grant Program today, awarding three policyholders for their creative risk control solutions.

The first-place $10,000 matching grant was awarded to NIP Group Inc., Garden State Municipal Joint Insurance Fund (GSMJIF) and Public Entity Joint Insurance Fund (PEJIF) to implement a web-based software to review law enforcement incidents and prevent injuries. The technology will capture officer performance, codify officers’ actions and translate them into performance metrics, providing transparency in their performance improvement efforts.

The second-place $5,000 matching grant was awarded to Costa Farms, LLC to implement engineering controls in their shipping operations to reduce work-related musculoskeletal disorders. This initiative will further drive the organization’s commitment to expand its Kaizen Innovation Program into safety, focusing on small changes that have a significant impact.

The third-place $2,500 matching grant was awarded to Kern County Hospital Authority to establish an advanced mobility program to support their ICU patients and staff. In addition to the hospital’s existing ICU mobility program, these enhancements are targeted towards further reducing reportable incidents through education and specialized equipment availability.

The Safety First Grant Program is available to any Safety National workers’ compensation insurance policyholder with a risk control solution that aligns with Safety National’s lines of coverage.
