The family evacuated the home safely prior to fire crews from multiple departments arriving at the scene, Music said.
The fire is believed to have started on the front porch before advancing to the attic, Music said. The heat within the attic eventually caused the fire to breech the roof, destroying half of it, he said.

"The cooperation and teamwork working alongside the other fire crews was wonderful and is likely the reason why the home is still standing," Music said.
Firefighters assisted the family in retrieving items from inside the home to prevent further smoke and water damage, Music said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, Music said.
