WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 -- Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Michigan, issued the following statement after the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling striking down part of the Affordable Care Act:
"This decision leaves Michigan families and those with preexisting conditions in the lurch, as the Trump Administration gets one step closer to repealing the entire Affordable Care Act and jeopardizing healthcare for millions of Americans.
"I have spent this year fighting to expand access to affordable and quality healthcare, passing legislation in the House to intervene in this lawsuit, protect people with pre-existing conditions, and lower prescription drug costs for my constituents.
"I intend to continue this work in the coming year, regardless of repeated attempts from the Trump Administration to undermine our health law, a catastrophic outcome that will kick millions of people off their insurance coverage, strip away protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and raise costs for Michigan families."
