Rep. Spano Urges President to Approve Governor’s Request for FEMA Reimbursements

WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 -- Rep. Ross Spano, R-Florida, issued the following news release:
Congressman Ross Spano (Florida-15) recently joined Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) and Congressman Vern Buchanan (R-FL) in a delegation letter urging President Trump to approve Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' request for financial assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) following Hurricane Dorian.
"Florida did an outstanding job preparing for the threat of Hurricane Dorian. Governor DeSantis, the Florida Division of Emergency Management, and the county emergency management departments should be commended for their work. However, the protective measures they took to properly prepare for the worst case scenario that looked like it was heading for Florida cost a great deal of local and state tax dollars. Not to mention, many Florida districts, including my own, are still feeling the budget impacts of responding to past hurricanes like Irma and Michael. This funding to reimburse communities is necessary to help Florida get back on its feet," said Representative Spano.
This isn't the first time Representative Spano has joined forces with the Florida delegation for FEMA funding. Prior to Hurricane Dorian's arrival, the Florida delegation wrote a letter in support of a pre-landfall disaster declaration.
In addition, Representative Spano has taken an active role in working to get millions in FEMA funding for Lake County to help cover the costs of debris removal from Hurricane Irma in 2017.
