Rep. DeLauro Issues Statement on Defeat of Senate ACA Repeal Vote

WASHINGTON, July 28 -- Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro, D-Conn., issued the following statement regarding the defeat of the Senate bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act:

"The country can breathe a sigh of relief after the defeat of the Senate bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The Senate rejected every Republican proposal to unravel the ACA's protections for patients with preexisting conditions, eliminate coverage for essential health benefits, and make healthcare unaffordable by raising premiums and deductibles.

"It is now time for Republicans and Democrats to work together to improve the Affordable Care Act to bring down premiums and deductibles, reduce prescription drug prices, and increase competition in the marketplaces.

"Making things better for all Americans should be first and foremost in everything we do."
