The executive order aims to fix the "family glitch," an issue with how the federal government calculates eligibility for Affordable Care Act subsidies that affects 5 million Americans and 206,000 Georgians. Currently, individuals are eligible for subsidized health insurance if their employer-based coverage rises above a percentage of their household income. Unfortunately, this method only calculates the net increase to the policyholder and not the family unit, which can make even small percentage increases extremely burdensome to large families.
