Rep. Bishop Joins House to Deliver Hurricane Relief

WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 -- Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Mich., issued the following statement following the passage of the hurricane supplemental, debt limit, continuing appropriations and flood insurance package (H.R. 601):
"Congress has a very limited window of time to deliver relief to the people of Texas, and soon in Florida. We are all Americans and must come together in their time of need, and that's why I supported this legislation. We are keeping the many impacted families and communities in our prayers.
"That said, the way this package of legislation was put together flies directly in the face of good government. America cannot continue down a path of limitless, out-of-control spending.
"The families we represent operate on budgets and the federal government should be no different. As Congress uses the next few months to address additional pressing items, we must operate on a parallel path to bring down the national debt and balance the budget."
