CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (AP) _ Reinsurance Group of America Inc. (RGA) on Monday reported fourth-quarter net income of $1.22 billion.
On a per-share basis, the Chesterfield, Missouri-based company said it had net income of $18.49. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains and investment gains, came to $2.60 per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.82 per share.
The reinsurance company posted revenue of $3.23 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $3.2 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $1.82 billion, or $27.71 per share. Revenue was reported as $12.35 billion.
Reinsurance Group shares have increased 2.5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $159.77, a climb of 27 percent in the last 12 months.
