BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) _ ProAssurance Corp. (PRA) on Monday reported second-quarter profit of $19.5 million.
The Birmingham, Alabama-based company said it had profit of 36 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 40 cents per share.
The medical professional liability insurer posted revenue of $205.6 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $205.3 million, falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $209.6 million.
ProAssurance shares have increased slightly more than 3 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $58.05, a rise of 8 percent in the last 12 months.
