President Donald J. Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Alabama

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency issued the following news release:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Alabama to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Nate from October 6 to October 10, 2017.

Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by Hurricane Nate in Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington counties.

Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work (Category B) in Autauga, Dallas, and Macon counties.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

Warren J. Riley has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Riley said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments.
