Feb. 07--OXFORD -- The Oxford Police Department charged two Lafayette County men with felony driving under the influence last weekend.
On Friday Feb. 1, officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on University Avenue at 11:40 p.m. After talking with the driver, officers determined he was under the influence. An investigation revealed he has at least two prior DUI convictions within the past five years on his driving record.
Jessie Dunn, 26, of Abbeville, was charged with for DUI-third offense, speeding, driving with a suspended license under implied consent and no proof of insurance. Bond was set at $5,000.
Two nights later, police were called to a two-car wreck on Highway 7 at Highway 6 around 10 p.m.Feb. 3. After speaking with both parties, officers believed one of the drivers, Teddy Mullin, 42, of Oxford, was under the influence and he was subsequently arrested. Officials then discovered he had at least three prior DUI conviction. Mullin was carried to the Lafayette County Detention Center and charged with DUI-fourth offense. Bond was set at $4,000.
