Enrollment in the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) program is rising rapidly. In particular, leaders in philanthropic advising and nonprofit gift planning are joining in their local communities to study CAP® together. We call this a Philanthropy Exchange,” said Philip Cubeta, MSFS, CAP®, ChFC®, CLU®, holder of the Sallie B. and William B. Wallace Chair in Philanthropy and Assistant Professor of Philanthropy at The American College.

Cubeta continued: “The goal is to get a credential, but more importantly to bring the disciplines together to better serve donors and clients in their philanthropy. Heather is ideally qualified to lead this growing movement.”

Since the program’s inception, more than 550 professionals have attained their CAP® designation. CAP® study groups are currently running in West Palm Beach, Dallas, and Des Moines, with others coming together rapidly throughout the United States - often hosted by local community foundations.

Gee has more than 25 years of fundraising, gift planning and philanthropic advising experience. During her career, she has served in various senior level fundraising positions, including the University of Baltimore School of Law, United Way of Central Maryland, the Dallas Symphony and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

For the past 11 years, Gee was Vice President for Development and Donor Services for The Philadelphia Foundation. In this position, she spearheaded the asset development and donor engagement efforts of a $270 million community foundation, bringing in tens of millions of philanthropic dollars for local and national causes.

<span style="font-size: 10pt">Gee has worked with countless donors of varying wealth, helping individuals and families explore their passions, articulate their values and shape their philanthropic dreams and goals. She utilizes best practice strategies to inspire generous, caring people to make the most of their giving, resulting in a rewarding, satisfying and transformational giving experience. A great deal of her work at The Philadelphia Foundation involved working with professional advisors helping them learn about charitable giving vehicles and how to incorporate the philanthropic conversation and planning strategies into their practice.

A former Chair of the Board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Philadelphia Chapter, Gee has also served as a board member of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy. She is currently a board member of the International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy and Inspired Legacies.

In addition, Gee recently launched her own philanthropic consulting practice, GPS Philanthropy. As a philanthropic consulting firm, GPS Philanthropy helps people and organizations as they pursue relevancy and purpose during their philanthropic journey.
