Molina Healthcare of NM to host backpack giveaway for students in the Pueblo of Zuni

ZUNI Molina Healthcare of New Mexico will host a backpack giveaway for students heading back to school in the Pueblo of Zuni from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 at the Zuni Wellness Center. Two hundred free backpacks will be distributed to local children, grades K-8, on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last (students must be present).
Approximately 33% of residents in the Pueblo of Zuni live below the poverty line, this is substantially higher than the 13.1% national average and the 18.4% rate for New Mexico. Molina is committed to helping local students start the year off right by providing access to some of the resources and support needed to alleviate the financial burdens many families experience this time of year.
Staff will be on site to provide information on health care coverage options, and a children’s Zumba class will also be available.
