Menendez: ‘I Am Going to Do Everything, and I Mean Everything, to Make Sure this Isn’t the Result’

HACKENSACK, N.J., May 5 -- The office of Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., issued the following news release:

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee that sets national health policy, today heard directly from some of the half-million New Jerseyans who stand to lose health coverage under the House Republican bill that passed yesterday to repeal the Affordable Care Act. At the end of the emotional exchange, the senator promised "to do everything--and I mean everything--to make sure this isn't the result."

The American Health Care Act (AHCA) repeals the ACA, no longer guarantees coverage for those with preexisting conditions, guts Medicaid, imposes age and maternity taxes, and defunds Planned Parenthood.

Sen. Menendez held a roundtable discussion at Hackensack University Medical Center with patients, parents of children with preexisting conditions and other constituents who would be adversely affected if this legislation ever becomes law.
