MassMutual Joins National Technology Security Coalition

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

ATLANTA, Georgia, May 1 -- Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance, a life insurance company, issued the following news release:

The National Technology Security Coalition (NTSC) announced today that Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) has joined the organization. The NTSC provides a platform for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) to advocate for beneficial legislative and regulatory policies, and encourages a dialogue about cybersecurity issues, laws, and regulations through advocacy engagement with congressional members, regional CISO policy roundtables, and an annual meeting as part of its National CISO Policy Conference.

Jesus "Laz" Montano, who recently joined MassMutual as its Head of Enterprise Information Risk Management and CISO, will continue to serve on the NTSC Board of Directors; Montano has been an NTSC Board member since November 2017, starting with his prior role as CISO of Voya Financial.

In addition, Alison Weiss, MassMutual's Head of Federal Government Relations, has joined the NTSC Policy Council--an entity that considers cybersecurity issues as they pertain to the role of the CISO, and submits advocacy recommendations to the NTSC Board for review and approval. Working closely with the NTSC's advocacy efforts, the Policy Council also keeps the Board informed about important details, trends, and updates related to national cybersecurity law and policy.

"I'm thrilled that I can continue to serve on the NTSC Board of Directors on behalf of my new position with MassMutual," said Montano. "The NTSC provides a platform for CISOs to engage with senior-ranking congressional and regulatory leaders about public policy challenges impacting the CISO community and the cybersecurity industry. I look forward to carrying on this ongoing work with my fellow CISO peers so that we may continue to advocate for beneficial legislative and regulatory cybersecurity policies in Washington D.C."

Representing a broad cross-section of enterprise companies, the NTSC Board of Directors has a vested interest in protecting the security of their customers and employees through policies that improve national cybersecurity standards and awareness.

"I'm excited that Laz will continue serving on the NTSC Board of Directors," said Patrick Gaul, Executive Director of the NTSC. "I'm also delighted that Alison Weiss will join our NTSC Policy Council and support our efforts in advancing the NTSC's policy agenda. We welcome MassMutual's participation with the NTSC, and I look forward to Laz's and Alison's leadership in helping us unite the voice of the CISO on Capitol Hill."

Montano brings more than 25 years of information technology and security experience to his new role at MassMutual. Prior to his role as CISO at Voya Financial, he served as the Chief Information Security Officer at MetLife.

In addition to MassMutual, the NTSC's prestigious board of CISOs represents leading companies, including Aaron's, Aetna, Aflac, AutoNation, Cox Automotive, Discover Financial Services, Dollar Tree, Ellie Mae, Epsilon, Globe Life, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services, Huntington Bank, IAC/InterActiveCorp, Johnson & Johnson, Jones Day, Mastercard, MoneyGram International, Motorola Mobility, NCR, Synovus, TaxSlayer, TransUnion, Turner, United Airlines, US Bank, and Worldpay.
