Local American Legion organizing drive to help veterans affected by Laura

Sep. 16--The American Legion 3rd District is organizing a supply drive to help veterans who were victims of Hurricane Laura. The drive will occur until Sept. 25, and all supplies can be brought to the Regional Military Museum, 1154 Barrow St., Houma.
The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Though money donations are accepted, it is preferred that checks may be made out to Department of Louisiana American Legion (Memo: Louisiana Disaster Relief), PO Box 3749, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
The supplies and monetary donations will go to all in need, but every attempt will be made to disburse them to veterans in need, organizers said. Local residents are also trying to assemble a work team at the end of September to help veterans with projects that are not covered by insurance or need to be addressed before insurance funds are disbursed.
If you are interested in joining the work team or have any questions about the supply drive you can contact Lee Shaffer at 804-2265 or email [email protected].
