Littman Krooks Continues Online Conferences on Estate Planning and Special Education Advocacy

PR Web

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (PRWEB) September 19, 2020

Littman Krooks LLP is pleased to announce that our popular series of Zoom conferences will continue into the Fall. Join us on Tuesdays at 12 PM (EST) as our attorneys share valuable updates and information about laws pertaining to elder law, Medicaid planning, estate planning, guardianship, special needs planning, special education advocacy in New York State.

Here is the upcoming schedule. Click on the title of the conference to register.

  • September 22: "17-A Guardianship or Advance Directives." Amy C. O'Hara, Esq., will discuss what is appropriate for your child with special needs as they enter adulthood. She will review the least restrictive alternatives you should consider to protect your child when they become legally emancipated at age 18.
  • September. 29: "Should I Update My Estate Plan?" Estate planning is an ongoing process as laws and family circumstances change. Stephanie L. Goldstein, Esq., will review the questions to consider as you determine whether you should update your estate plan.
  • October 6: "Responsibilities of an Executor." A loved one or close friend has appointed you as Executor of their estate. Now what? Joel Krooks, Esq., will discuss the responsibilities you have as Executor during the person's life and when they pass away. In addition, he will review what you should be thinking about when deciding who to appoint as the Executor of your Estate.
  • October 13: "Parent's Guide to IEP Meetings." Arshi Pal, Esq., will discuss how parents can work with their school district to develop an IEP that appropriately meets the educational needs specific to their child. She will also provide guidance on the essential "do's and don'ts" to preserve a child's rights.
  • October 20: "Measuring Student Progress in COVID Times." Children with disabilities are entitled to a free appropriate public education during hybrid or remote learning. Parents should learn how to monitor and document their student's progress - or lack of progress – through remote learning and provide the needed data back to the school district. Amy Halpert, Esq., will share what parents can do.
  • October 27: "Planning with Revocable Trusts." Brian L. Miller, Esq., will discuss the benefits of using a revocable trust in your estate planning. This type of trust helps to avoid probate, can be amended or revoked, and property can be transferred in or out of the trust at any time.
  • November 10: "Mental Health and the Law. " Laura Brancato, Esq., will discuss mental health issues and the law, specifically Article 81 and Article 9.
