Letter to the editor: Our republic needs people to ask, “What’s best for my country?”
First and foremost, we are not a democracy; we are a republic.
Why is it people now say, "What's in it for me?" instead of saying, "What's best for my country?" (
Free stuff is never free; someone worked to pay for it. I did, and I hope everyone contributed their fair share.
Just in case you didn't know,
History tells us the longest form of government in earlier forms only lasted for 200 years. This republic now holds the record but is in jeopardy of losing it forever. Remember history or you are doomed to repeat it.
Vote for your country, your children, your grandchildren, and then yourself. Then you'll get what's in it for us!
