Interest rate cuts may be necessary to avoid excessive tightening, says Fed head
The president of the San Francisco Federal Reserve, Mary Daly, said on Monday that it is appropriate for the monetary authority to start looking ahead to cutting interest rates, given the way inflation has cooled this year. Daly said her outlook for interest rates and inflation was "very close" to the median projections of 19 Fed officials last week.
