INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, Jan. 23 -- The Indiana House Republicans issued the following news release:
The National Council of Insurance Legislators recently named State Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) as its president for 2020.
In the role, he will help lead the national organization comprised of other state legislators who serve on insurance and financial institutions committees in their respective state assemblies.
"Insurance laws are vast, and vary from state to state," Lehman said. "This group unites legislators throughout the nation and from both sides of the aisle to help improve policies while protecting the consumer and the state-based system of insurance regulation. After joining NCOIL in 2009, I am eager to now be the president of this distinguished team."
Tom Considine, chief executive officer of NCOIL, said Lehman has been a terrific leader at NCOIL for years, having chaired a number of committees prior to becoming an officer in 2017.
"He is universally respected, both in our organization as well as others such as NCSL and NAIC," Considine said. "He is a forward thinker, pragmatic and passionate about his work with insurance issues. He has the full confidence and support of our officer team. I am excited to work together and accomplish great things in 2020."
Lehman, a partner at Bixler Insurance in Berne, serves on the Indiana House Financial Institutions Committee and the Indiana House Insurance Committee. His term as president of NCOIL will expire in December of this year.
