Indiana Legal Services sues state over health insurance

"Our client is several thousand dollars in debt as a result of the state's failure to process her application in a timely manner,"
The lawsuit names the
"Every day and week matters to eligible HIP applicants who continue to have medical needs during these enormous delays," Wood said. "The longer the decision is delayed, the longer applicants don't have coverage. The state is trying to find a loophole to avoid its responsibility. Meanwhile, low-income Hoosiers have been left to pay hefty medical bills -- in full -- out of their own pocket."
Indiana Legal Services provides free legal representation to low-income residents on civil legal matters, focusing on basic needs such as housing, health care, tax assistance, income security and protection from domestic abuse, among others.
