G&H Insurance serves area farmers with family values [Great Bend Tribune, Kan.]

Jul. 9—Thirty years ago, G&H Insurance began as a family business serving farmers with Kansas family values, a tradition that owner Clay Boepple continues to uphold today.

Boepple's mother, Gwyn, started the business over a weekend 1992. Gwyn began as a secretary with a local insurance business. However, in 1992, the business was moving its headquarters out of state and offered to sell the business to Gwyn.

Clay worked as an agent at the business, but took over for his mom when she retired from the business. In addition to Clay, the business employs two other agents, Darci Lyman and Ryan Taylor.

G&H Insurance's sole focus is providing crop insurance to local farmers through federally-funded programs, work he sees as essential to the local economy, and to the farmers the business serves. G&H is one of many companies the U.S. government contracts with nationally to provide crop insurance to farmers. G&H specializes in providing multi-peril crop insurance (MPCI) for corn, soybean, milo and wheat crops.

"Basically, any natural disaster that can destroy a crop, we help protect the farmers (from)," Clay said.

Clay said he enjoys the opportunity to visit with the farmers G&H serves on a daily basis.

He seeks to operate the business each day with the faith-based values instilled in him by his Mom. "We want to serve our farmers honestly with those values."

The company's employees are a vital part of its success, he said, so he seeks to treat them with the same values with which they serve Kansas farmers.

G&H Insurance is located at 1616 Main in Great Bend where they are open 8 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. on Friday.
