Frankfort fire station roof to be repaired
The department has had problems since March with leaking in the rear of the newer section of the building, according to Fire Chief
Insurance will not cover the cost of repairs because the company sees them as the result of normal wear and tear, he told the board.
An engineer for the insurance company did look at the station, however, and offered recommendations on the scope of work that will be required, he said, including replacing the back section of the roof and repairing the overhead framing.
"I'm trying to get this issue fixed before winter," said Conigliaro.
The chief said he contacted six contractors and three submitted bids. All are roofers with commercial insurance, he said. One bid on only a portion of the work that needs to be done while two submitted bids on the entire project. The low bid for the entire project was
The board voted to award the contract to the firm.
Conigliaro also reported that the department did not receive a grant to purchase new air packs.
"We missed it by three points," he said and added the department has submitted a grant for the next round of funding.

"I want to start putting aside money in reserve accounts so it's easier to handle these things and maintain systems properly," he said.
Small incremental amounts would be put away rather than having the village carry a large fund balance.
