Empire BlueCross BlueShield HealthPlus’ Plan Receives Five-Star Ranking

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Managed Care Weekly Digest -- Empire BlueCross BlueShield HealthPlus' managed long-term care plan has been ranked as a Five-Star plan by the New York State Department of Health, which makes it one of only two plans in the New York City region to earn the state's highest rating (see also Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield).

The ratings are based on number of criteria, including preventive care, quality of life, satisfaction with care and stability or improvement.

Managed long-term care helps people who are chronically ill or have disabilities and who need to stay independently in their homes. Plan members must meet certain age, health-status and living arrangement requirements.

Empire BlueCross BlueShield HealthPlus' managed long-term care plan offers benefits such as podiatry, dentistry, vision and hearing benefits, nursing care, a 24/7 NurseLine, care management, adult day care, a personal emergency response system, nonemergency transportation and meals and nutrition support.

"Our focus is on providing a very personalized care experience tailored to each individual's needs so every person can live independently in their homes as long as possible and live their lives to the fullest," said Stephenson.

Ratings are based on a comparison of plan rates to statewide averages. They include data assessments and member satisfaction surveys.
