Dan Gallagher, Recently Retired 30-Year Certified Financial Expert, Launches The Secrets of Successful Financial Planning for Take-Charge Consumers
For over three decades, Gallagher surveyed clients about their financial strategies and experiences prior to his engagements with them. Three issues kept surfacing:
1. The client did little or no planning, ignoring professional advice but occasionally taking ideas from magazine articles or other impersonal sources;
2. The client diligently planned, using self-help books or software that did not offer customized strategies based on the client's specific situation;
3. The client hired biased or incompetent advisors, including professionals who used ghost-written books to promote financial products or fee-based services.
In his book, The Secrets of Successful Financial Planning, Gallagher reveals which aspects of a financial plan require a professional's guidance and which parts can a savvy, well-educated, do-it-yourself, take-charge person handle him or herself.
In the book, he addresses the six interrelated areas of financial planning:
● Cash and Budget Planning
● Insurance and Risk Management
● Tax Management
● Retirement Planning
● Investment Planning
● Estate Planning
"I deliberately used plain English in my book," reports
