With the last of the 'big six', EDF Energy, increasing its prices on November 10, 2011, price comparison websites are seeing an increase in visitors as consumers are hit with higher energy bills, according to comparethemarket.com.
While the Government has reacted to the energy price rises by encouraging companies to speed up switching and make tariffs simpler and easier to compare, comparethemarket.com warned that the switching process can take up to 7-8 weeks. This means that November could be the last chance for many households to get on a cheaper tariff for the start of 2012.
