Collective Health Appoints Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales and Customer Success

Business Wire

Roy Gilbert and Jeff Hermosillo Join a Diverse Leadership Team as Collective Health Doubles its Membership to 70,000 Lives

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Enterprise health insurance software and services leader Collective Health today announced it has appointed Roy Gilbert as chief operating officer and Jeff Hermosillo as senior vice president of sales and customer success to its leadership team. The announcement comes at a time of significant growth for Collective Health—the company has more than doubled the number of lives on its platform in the past year and now takes care of 70,000 members from 15 enterprise clients. Since 2015, the Collective Health team has grown by eighty percent to nearly 250 employees and moved its headquarters from San Mateo to San Francisco, California.

“We’re thrilled to welcome both Roy and Jeff to the Collective Health team, especially at such a transformational moment in time for our company,” said Ali Diab, co-founder and CEO of Collective Health. “Roy is an incredible operations executive who has consistently delivered results as he has scaled massive organizations. Jeff is a seasoned sales leader who has several decades of sales experience and deep networks from the nation’s top managed care organizations. Their combined guidance and contributions will be critical to our organization as we continue to grow and I’m confident that they will help us to deliver even better value to our members and clients.”

Mr. Gilbert brings deep experience building, growing, and managing global organizations for Google where he led global user operations to his role as chief operating officer at Collective Health. At Google, his role spanned 10 countries where he was responsible for mission-critical operations across multiple business units supporting the business and Google's billions of users. Directly prior to joining Collective Health, Mr. Gilbert was an executive in residence with venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and also served as chief executive to two education startups, Learnist and Grockit. Mr. Gilbert started his career as a lieutenant commander in the Submarine Force for the U.S. Navy where he managed daily operations of a $1.3 billion nuclear submarine. He received an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BS in Computer Science from the U.S. Naval Academy.

“I’m excited to join Collective Health and be a part of building a business in an incredibly complicated space and with the audacious vision of reimagining how 175 million Americans pay for their healthcare,” said Roy Gilbert, chief operating officer, Collective Health. “I was drawn to the organization because of its world class team and bench of experienced leaders and I’m looking forward to working together as we continue to grow and scale.”

In his role as senior vice president of sales and customer success for Collective Health, Mr. Hermosillo brings more than 20 years of sales management and customer service experience, including executive leadership roles with the nation’s top managed care organizations: Blue Shield of California, UnitedHealth Group and Kaiser Permanente. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Hearst Health’s Milliman Care Guidelines Division and led both its domestic and international sales and marketing functions. In his role, Mr. Hermosillo was responsible for growing top line revenue and increasing MCG’s market share for both the provider and health plan business segments. He is a graduate of Stanford University.

“I’ve been in the healthcare industry for over two decades and jumped at the opportunity to join Collective Health at a time when our healthcare industry is evolving more rapidly than ever,” said Jeff Hermosillo, senior vice president of sales and customer success for Collective Health. “I believe in their mission of creating the healthcare experience that we all deserve and I'm incredibly excited to join such a talented team and help them to continue to bring the best technology and member experience to market."

Since its founding in 2013, Collective Health has prioritized diversity and has consistently maintained a 1:1 gender ratio amongst its staff. Mr. Gilbert and Mr. Hermosillo will be based at Collective Health’s headquarters in San Francisco and join an experienced and diverse leadership team with decades of combined experience in healthcare, consumer product, and consumer marketing including chief people officer, Jude Komuves, senior vice president of business development, Kristin Baker Spohn, vice president of marketing, Sarahjane Sacchetti and head of design, Susan Dybbs.
