COCHRAN STATEMENT ON DISASTER SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS REQUEST
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today released the following statement on the Trump administration's third request for supplemental disaster appropriations funding.
"The Administration's latest request for supplemental funding is one more step toward helping states and communities recover from the destruction of recent hurricanes and wildfires. The Appropriations Committee will immediately begin to analyze the request and make recommendations so affected communities get the help they need.
"We must remember that the funds requested are meant to supplement annual appropriations for federal agencies and programs that are integral to response and recovery efforts. Congress must work to complete action on the regular appropriations bills, even as it attends to this supplemental request."
The supplemental request submitted to Congress totals roughly $44 billion in emergency supplemental appropriations.
