CEO of the California Association of Dental Plans to Present ‘Private Exchanges in a Public Exchange World’ at Conference [Professional Services Close – Up]

Proquest LLC

CHOICE Administrators said the national movement toward health insurance exchanges and the role of "private exchanges in a public exchange world" will be the topic of a presentation by Ron Goldstein, president and CEO, at the California Association of Dental Plans' annual conference on May 31 in Indian Wells.

According to a release, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates that all U.S. states and territories establish and launch their own health insurance exchange by January 1, 2014, or default to a federal fallback program.

The company said that Goldstein is one of the nation's best- known thought leaders and a frequent speaker and author on the topic of exchanges, and over the past year he has had conversations with nearly all 50 states regarding health insurance exchanges.

At the CADP conference, Goldstein will share with attendees how he sees the marketplace evolving over the next year with a perspective of more than two decades as a leading architect in the creation and acceptance of employee-choice health plans. He will also discuss the role and future of private exchanges within the context of healthcare reform.

"Notwithstanding the Supreme Court decision on the individual mandate, employers and individuals will still be looking for a vehicle that provides affordable health insurance that meets their needs while providing choice and security," said Goldstein. "For many, both public and private health insurance exchanges may be the answer."

The company added that among the companies Goldstein oversees as CEO of CHOICE Administrators and of particular interest to CADP conference attendees is Choice Builder, the nation's only ancillary health insurance exchange for small business. Choice Builder gives employers with 2-99 employees, access to some of the nation's premier dental, vision, chiropractic and life carriers, all in one program.

"Programs like Choice Builder are a natural complement to health insurance programs as they allow employers to build a program that makes sense for them, their employees and their budget," said Goldstein. "And because it's really all about choice and recognizing that one size for everyone doesn't work anymore, programs like Choice Builder likely won't be effected by where healthcare reform legislation lands."

Health insurance exchanges create an online, one-stop shopping mall where employers, consumers, insurance brokers and others can easily view competing health plans side by side, comparing benefits, costs, provider networks and other features.

The California Association of Dental Plans is California's only organization for Knox-Keene licensed dental plans.

CHOICE Administrators develops and administers health insurance exchanges.
