CareSource finalizes purchase of former building site
Dayton Daily News (OH)
Feb. 14--Dayton-based CareSource has finalized the purchase of a vacant building site at 122 Jefferson St. near the company's planned new office tower, Montgomery County property records show.
CareSource, a Medicaid managed care provider and private health insurer, paid $515,700 for the site, where a Dayton Hydraulic Co. office building was formerly located, records show. The building was demolished last month.
"As we prepare for construction of the Center City office building, we have acquired parcels of land that will be part of the overall development of the building site requirements," CareSource said in a statement.
Late last year, the company acquired two downtown parking lots near the site of the new Center City office tower, which will be located at the corner of First and Jefferson streets downtown.
The company purchased a lot at 131-133 E. Second St. for $195,000, and agreed to lease another lot at the corner of Second Street and North St. Clair Street downtown, according to a company spokeswoman. The parking lots will be used for construction staging for the new office tower, she said.
CareSource, downtown's biggest employer, has about 2,100 employees in four different buildings downtown and will consolidate many of those employees in the new building.
