BRIEF: Wichita police to conduct sobriety checkpoints
Wichita Eagle (KS)
Aug. 15--The Wichita Police Department will conduct sobriety checkpoints Friday and Saturday in Wichita.
Officers will stop drivers to check their license, proof of insurance and seat belt. The WPD said motorists who are not in compliance or who are suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be detained for further testing.
The police department said most drivers wouldn't experience any "excessive delay" at the checkpoint.
The WPD did not specify where it would conduct the checkpoints.
The checkpoints are being coordinated with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department, Sedgwick County Emergency Management Services, DUI Victim Center of Kansas and Salvation Army.
