Chronicle, The (Centralia, WA)
Oct. 16--Two children and an adult were injured when vehicles collided on U.S. Highway 12 a mile west of Mossyrock Monday afternoon.
According to a Washington State Patrol press release, a 5-year-old male, a 15-year-old female and Melissa A. Deeds, 40, of Glenoma were transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for treatment for unspecified injuries.
The press release says that at around 1:54 p.m. Monday, a 2004 Subaru Legacy, driven by Chrysanne L. Jacobsen, 55, of Mossyrock, was travelling eastbound on U.S. Highway 12, when she slowed down to pull into a driveway.
A 1994 Subaru Legacy, driven by Deeds, was travelling behind Jacobsen's vehicle, and struck it in the rear when the other vehicle began to slow down. Jacobsen was uninjured. The two kids who were injured were passengers in Deeds' vehicle.
WSP, in the press release, attribute "following too close" as the cause of the crash. Deeds was cited for following too closely and driving without insurance. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
