BRIEF: ‘Start Smart’ driving classes free for teens

June 10--The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Hesperia Station will be hosting another Start Smart class for teenage drivers on June 30. The free, two-hour class is designed by the California Highway Patrol and will cover topics such as tips to avoid collisions, safe driving habits, dynamics of a collision, consequences of a poor choice behind the wheel of a vehicle, parental roles and responsibilities and legal ramifications and civil liabilities affecting teen drivers and their parents. Some automobile insurance companies may also offer discounts for teens who attend the class. The class will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.June 30 at the Hesperia Sheriff's Station Community Room, 15840 Smoketree St. in Hesperia.
