BRIEF: Jordan discusses health care during business tour
Dayton Daily News (OH)
June 26--U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Urbana, said he's optimistic a Senate proposal to reform health care will move forward later this week, although he said it falls short of a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
Jordan, R-Urbana, also discussed issues like welfare reform after he toured KTH Parts Industries Inc., an auto parts manufacturer in Champaign County.
The Senate proposal is generally similar to legislation passed by House Republicans earlier this year. The bill would retain some parts of the ACA, including allowing parents to keep their children on their policies until they reach 26 years old. But the legislation has been criticized for plans to revamp Medicaid, a federal program that pays for health care for the poor and the disabled.
"I always tell people folks remember, this is not a full repeal," Jordan said. "I wish it was. That's what we campaigned on. But I think it's important you're honest with the voters."
