BRIEF: Jamestown man accused of defrauding life insurance company

Sept. 04--RALEIGH -- N.C. Department of Insurance criminal investigators arrested a Jamestown man Tuesday on charges of insurance fraud.
William Edward Leiss, 41, of 301 Winrow Drive, faces 12 charges of obtaining property by false pretense and a charge of attempting to obtain property by false pretense.
Leiss received more than $13,100 from Americo Insurance by presenting false information on life insurance applications from October 2014 to January 2015, the insurance department said in a news release.
Leiss presented 11 forged applications, an application with false medical information and an application on behalf of a deceased man, according to the release.
Leiss posted $1,000 bail on Tuesday and was released.
