BRIEF: Florida receives more federal funding to clean up after Irma

Oct. 02--Florida is getting more federal assistance in cleaning up debris after Hurricane Irma, according to a news release sent Monday by the White House.

President Donald Trump authorized an increase in the level of federal funding for debris removal to 90 percent of the total eligible costs for 30 days from the date of the declaration, according to the release. The federal share includes direct assistance.

The original major disaster declaration issued Sept. 10 included federal funding for 75 percent of total eligible costs.
