BRIEF: Erie’s Learn leads in PBA50 bowling tournament
Erie Times-News (PA)
Aug. 08--FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Erie professional bowler Bob Learn Jr., who has three career PBA50 Tour titles, took the first-round lead in the PBA50 DeHayes Insurance Group Championship on Sunday with a 1,894 eight-game pinfall total (236.7 average).
Heading into Monday's second qualifying round, Learn leads 2008 USBC Senior Masters winner Kenny Parks of Hammond, Ind., who finished the day in second place, 27 pins behind with a 1,867 total.
"Overall it's been kind of a lackluster year," said Learn, whose last title came in the 2015 PBA/PBA50 South Shore Doubles with partner D.J. Archer. "There have been times when I felt like I was bowling real well but made some bad decisions when it was time to make adjustments that prevented me from getting some better finishes."
