BRIEF: Beloit man dies from injuries in Sunday crash

Jan. 31--TOWN OF SPRING GROVE -- A Beloit man died Wednesday from injuries he sustained in a crash in the town of Spring Grove on Sunday.
Colton P. Van Marter, 21, of Beloit was driving south on County T and failed to stop at a stop sign, traveling into the path of a vehicle headed east on Highway 81, according to a news release from the Green County Sheriff's Office.
The eastbound vehicle was driven by Robin M. Smith, 52, of Beloit, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.
Van Marter was cited for second-offense intoxicated driving causing injury, failure to stop at a stop sign, operating while revoked, operating a vehicle with no insurance and failure to wear a seat belt, according to the release.
Brodhead police believe Van Marter was involved in an argument with his girlfriend in Brodhead and displayed a knife in the McDonalds drive-through before the crash, according to a release from the Brodhead Police Department.
The accident is Green County's first fatal crash of 2018, according to a release.
