BetterLife launches Better Final Expense insurance
MADISON, WI – July 7, 2025 – BetterLife — a member-owned, not-for-profit life insurance company — has launched Better Final Expense, an updated line of final expense products designed for a more streamlined approach to coverage.
With members located in 19 states across the United States, BetterLife is always seeking ways to refresh its products to adjust to the changing needs, interests, and lifestyles of its members and the demands of an evolving market. It’s become increasingly urgent to address the accessibility, affordability, and quality of essential services such as healthcare and financial wellness resources. This is particularly true in rural and small-town communities where options can be constrained due to lower household incomes and limited access to things like health and medical care, licensed insurance agents, and digital tools.
With rising costs in medical care and funeral services, final expense insurance is an important financial tool designed to help ease the burden on loved ones during an already difficult time. BetterLife members have voiced a clear need for simple and affordable, guaranteed-coverage options without the complication of medical exams typically required by traditional providers.
True to its 125-year legacy of member-first service, BetterLife responded to the call with solutions built around these needs. The product redesign is strategically positioned to meaningfully impact underserved rural and small-town communities and individuals with lower incomes or health challenges who may not qualify for other insurance policies.
For a simpler application process, Better Final Expense features an integrated common application for both the Simplified Issue and Graded options. Applicants not qualifying for the Simplified Issue product can opt directly into the Graded offering without needing to complete a new application.
“Our Better Final Expense products give individuals straightforward options for planning ahead, helping create peace of mind, and lessening the financial strain on grieving families across the country,” said BetterLife CEO Chris Campbell. “Regardless of geography, income, or background, we are all united in the grief of losing a family member. It’s important to us that rather than worrying about mounting expenses, individuals have the time and space they need to focus on honoring their loved one’s memory.”
