Aug. 4—A 38-year-old intoxicated and armed man was arrested for attempted homicide after showing up to a State Farm office and threatening to kill an insurance agent on Friday morning in Greeley.
Around 11:53 a.m., multiple parties reported to police that Jacob Maltby, 38, was on his way to a State Farm office in 1900 block of 59th Avenue. Reports said he was threatening to kill the insurance agent and then commit suicide.
Greeley police officers were told that Maltby was armed and intoxicated. Officers responded to the office and found Maltby in his parked vehicle outside the front of the office, according to the police.
Responding officers located multiple firearms inside Maltby's vehicle. This was the second day in a row he had gone to the State Farm office and became violent, according to police reports. The first time was not reported to the police and he had threatened a different person at the office.
Officers took Maltby into custody without incident, according to Greeley police. He was booked into the Weld County Jail.
Maltby faces several charges including attempted second-degree homicide, prohibited use of a weapon, criminal mischief and a driving under the influence.
The Weld District Attorney's Office has until 3:30 p.m. Aug. 10 to file charges against Maltby.
