May 07-- May 7--Pullman fire investigators on Monday labeled the Sunday morning fire that damaged the Cougar Laser Arena as arson and turned the investigation over to the Pullman Police Department.
According to a news release from the Pullman Fire Department, the fire started before 2 a.m. and had multiple points of origin within the building, which is located at 1234 S. Grand Ave. Firefighters also found evidence of vandalism.
The fire was first spotted by a Pullman fire paramedic who saw smoke coming from the building. Firefighters arriving on the scene saw flames and smoke inside the arena and immediately began efforts to extinguish the blaze.
Fire investigator Tony Nuttman said the interior of the arena had fire, smoke and water damage. The owners will meet with their insurance carrier to establish a cost estimate.
Wysup Imports and More, which is located in the same building, was not damaged. No one was injured in the blaze.
