AMO BLASTS TRUMP FOR SKYROCKETING HEALTH INSURANCE COSTS AS ACA OPEN ENROLLMENT BEGINS
States News Service
The following information was released by the office of Rhode Island Rep. Gabe Amo:
TODAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) issued the following statement on the high costs Rhode Islanders will face as open enrollment for Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance through HealthSourceRI begins tomorrow, November 1, 2025.
"Trump and Congressional Republicans' health care crisis means Rhode Island families are facing soaring insurance costs for 2026," said Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI). "As open enrollment begins, many Rhode Islanders are being forced to make impossible choices: between affording health care next year and necessities like food and housing. It's time for Trump and Republicans to demonstrate they care by moving quickly to negotiate with Democrats to reopen the government and lower health care costs."
Background
Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans are inflicting a systematic health care crisis on the American people. If Republicans let the tax credits that help millions of Americans afford their health care through the Affordable Care Act expire, more than 40,000Rhode Islanders will see their health insurance costs rise exponentially.
Open enrollment for health coverage through Rhode Island's Affordable Care Act exchange, HealthSource RI, begins on November 1, 2025. You can visit the HealthSource RI websiteto learn more and explore your coverage options.
Congressman Amo has voted to protect Rhode Islanders' health care since being sworn in to Congress in 2023. He voted against Republicans' Big, Ugly Law, which stripped more than $1.5 trillion from America's health care system in July after speaking against the bill at 3 am, not once but twice.
